Ok, so... at church on the rock on Sunday someone was talking and asked "how many of you had to get up this morning and pray that there would be food for you to eat"? and obviously none of us prayed that we would have enough food to feed us...we take advantage of that fact. we expect there to be food in the fridge and cupboards and on the table..because there always has been... at least for most of us middle class citizens.
So. that really challenged me. I don't have to wake up and pray for my own food, so instead I should take the time to wake up and pray that there would be food for people in the impoverish countries. I haven't picked a place on the map, but I'm just doing it generally...
I just pray "God, thank you that you provide for me, and that I am so blessed to have food on the table every day. But since I don't have to fight for my right to eat God I will fight for someone else's right to survive. So please send people in to the world to places where the people are going hungry, and provide means for them to get enough food to survive. Bless them."
so I just thought maybe I would challenge whoever it is that reads this, to do the same thing tonight before bed, or during devos, or at the dinner table. Just take a second to pray for people who don't have food... I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that these people will be fed.
We praise a good and gracious Father.

-------------------------------
Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.

Bridge:
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.

Bridge&Chorus 2x

I am yours.

Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?
'Cause I am yours.
I am yours.

Chelle that is such a great idea, and your right we do take advantage of having food everyday and I believe in the power of prayer as well and we should definitley even pick a country and pray for htem always and during our dorm devos as well as personal devos..
P.s. that is one of my favourite songs on the planet... who are we? it's just amazing that God still cares for us and loves us tho were really nothing. Loves us because we are his!
God is great

hey michelle-- just a reminder that people in canada desparately need prayer regarding food & hunger too! so many go hungry right in our own communities, 1 in 6 canadian kids are living in poverty-- which results in missing meals and going to school hungry. & if were talking aboriginal children, that number changes to 1 in 2.
i love your heart :)
